CADENCE & CONTINUO
Krakow, Poland
2007
In August 2007, we went to
Krakow in Poland. This
was another great trip. We stayed at the
Radisson SAS Hotel which was excellent. Krakow is highly recommended
for the sight-seeing, friendly Polish people and value for money. The city
very much reveres Pope
John Paul II (where he was archbishop) and exhibitions of photographs,
paintings and sculptures of him are everywhere in evidence. We visited
Wieliczka Salt Mine,
Auschwitz-Birkenau and
Zakopane as well as travelling
around Krakow itself. And, of course, we sang at various churches (the
chapel in the salt mine, St Peter's & St Paul's and the Capuchin Church), and we
busked in the market square (but not for money to preserve our amateur status!).
There are plenty of concerts every night, especially at St Peter's & St Paul's
Church and live music at many pubs and clubs including Ob Nova.
